January 2, 2018 in ,

A Franklin Square resident was arrested for driving while intoxicated, among other offenses, after allegedly crashing his car into a Franklin Avenue bar and neighboring storefront early Saturday morning. The crash injured the driver and his passengers and also caused substantial property damage.

Local news outlets indicated that 23-year-old driver Michele Masci injured his shoulder and two passengers suffered injuries, a rib fracture and a lung injury, upon impact. Firefighters used the jaws of life to remove the three riders from the car.

The incident also damaged an insurance company’s storefront and a utility pole, causing electric power lines to fall.

Masci is being charged with DWI, assault, criminal mischief and reckless driving.
