Man Injures Self And Passengers After Alleged DWI Crash Into Franklin Square Businesses

A Franklin Square resident was arrested for driving while intoxicated, among other offenses, after allegedly crashing his car into a Franklin Avenue bar and neighboring storefront early Saturday morning. The crash injured the driver and his passengers and also caused substantial property damage.
Local news outlets indicated that 23-year-old driver Michele Masci injured his shoulder and two passengers suffered injuries, a rib fracture and a lung injury, upon impact. Firefighters used the jaws of life to remove the three riders from the car.
The incident also damaged an insurance company’s storefront and a utility pole, causing electric power lines to fall.
Masci is being charged with DWI, assault, criminal mischief and reckless driving.
