Sullivan Papain Secures Over $1.3 Million for 9/11 First Responder with Respiratory and Skin Injuries
Sullivan Papain’s Ina Pecani obtained a $1,337,505.00 award from the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund on behalf of a first responder who served as both an NYPD officer and later as a FDNY firefighter.
Immediately after the attacks, the claimant participated in extensive search, rescue, and recovery operations at Ground Zero. His prolonged exposure to toxic dust and hazardous materials led to multiple serious medical conditions, including skin cancer and chronic respiratory injuries.
These health challenges eventually forced him to retire early, after he was deemed permanently unfit for firefighting duties at the age of 47.
Ina Pecani represented the claimant, successfully securing an award that reflected the physical, emotional, and financial hardships he endured as a result of his service.
