Construction Worker Fatally Falls Through Roof of Abandoned Hospital

The New Jersey State Police is investigating a fatal incident where a construction worker fell through the roof of an abandoned psychiatric hospital in Marlboro on Wednesday, November 17th, 2021.
33-Year-Old Construction Worker Found Dead Inside Abandoned Psychiatric Hospital
Cristian Velez-Hurtado of Paterson, New Jersey, was found inside Marlboro State Hospital around 9:30 am on Wednesday, November 17th, 2021. According to an investigation by New Jersey State Troopers, Velez-Hurtado was working on the roof of the abandoned building.
The psychiatric hospital had been closed since 1998. New Jersey State Police are unsure of the construction that was being completed on the building.
Officials determined that Velez-Hurtado’s death was unintentional and not suspicious.
