New York State Trial Lawyers Association Webinar: Business Interruption Claims

July 8, 2020 in

SPBMCC partner Vito Cannavo will be featured in what the New York Trial Lawyers Association describes as an “all-star panel of attorneys” to lead a CLE webinar on business interruption claims on Thursday July 9th.

The webinar will be held between 12:30PM-2:00PM and help guide listeners through the “ins and outs” for the path to coverage for Covid-19 related business interruption claims. The presentation will explain how to read and decipher dense insurance policies and what language to look out for in deciding whether a business has a valid claim for business interruption losses.

Attorneys will discuss their theories in satisfying the “direct physical loss” requirement for coverage in light of New York case law as well as how to overcome the dreaded “virus exclusion.”

The panel will also provide a macro view of what is going on around the country in terms of Business Interruption claims and developments within the Courts and Legislature.

Lastly, the panelists will teach attendees the “nuts and bolts” in handling a business interruption claim, including how to satisfy the policy’s notice requirements and what language to use in answering the carrier’s requests for information.
