Sullivan Papain Attorney Glenn Nick Secures $1.25 Million Settlement for Struck Pedestrian
Sullivan Papain Block McManus Coffinas & Cannavo P.C. is pleased to announce a $1.25 million settlement secured on June 10, 2025 by attorney Glenn Nick on behalf of a pedestrian who was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in a supermarket parking lot on Long Island.
In early 2024, our client was walking in the parking lot when a driver failed to stop at a stop sign and struck her. As a result of the collision, our client sustained multiple injuries, including a dislocated hip, fractured ribs, a large hematoma in her leg, a concussion, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
She required a week-long hospital stay followed by an additional week in a rehabilitation facility. Despite ongoing medical care, she continues to experience chronic hip pain and limited mobility, and future surgical intervention is anticipated.
Sullivan Papain filed suit in New York State Supreme Court, Nassau County against the driver and vehicle owner. Security footage obtained from the supermarket showed the driver’s failure to yield and provided compelling evidence of his negligence.
After completing depositions, the firm moved for summary judgment. The court granted the motion, finding the driver responsible for the incident. It also struck the defendants’ affirmative defense of comparative negligence, concluding there was no evidence that the plaintiff contributed in any way to the incident.
The case settled shortly thereafter at mediation for the full amount of available insurance coverage—$1,250,000.
