SPBMCC Obtains $1.2 Million Settlement After Breast Cancer Diagnosis Delay
June 7, 2018 in Blog, Medical Malpractice
Our client felt a lump in her breast and reported it to her doctor. She was referred for a mammogram and sonogram which were correctly interpreted as negative. However, the doctor did not follow up with her to investigate the lump. When it began to grow six months later, she returned for a mammogram which was suspicious, and cancer was diagnosed soon thereafter. Our client underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. Her doctor, meanwhile, denies that the client reported a lump in the first place. This delay in diagnosis resulted in a $1.2 million settlement before the case went to trial.
